English Boy

For me being British means not caring what people think of you, especially the way you dress.

Bella Freud is back collaborating with Fred Perry for the forth time. The collection celebrates Bella’s Sub cultural roots, growing up in London in the 70s. As ever boasting bold designs, classic slogans and underlying punk spirit.

I bloody love a good jumper so it was love at first sight when I spotted this English Boy slogan knit. There were only two sizes left in store (a 10 and a 12) however being determined not to leave empty handed I tried on the size 10 (only a fraction bigger than what I’d normally wear) and decided it just looked a little oversized rather than just plain old too big for me.

The quality, as ever with both Bella Freud and Fred Perry pieces, is fantastic. A mix of cotton and cashmere, it’s a beautiful lightweight jumper meaning it’s perfect for a chilly Spring (and let’s face it, Summers) day. Although a little on the pricey side, at £125 it’s less than half of what you would pay for a classic knit from Bellas personal collection. Plus it’s a classic statement piece that I know will see me through many years. I would wear it everyday if I could, it really is true love.

If you’re swooning over this jumper as I much as I am then you’re going to have to be quick if you want to own one! I was told by one of the gents in the Fred Perry store that not many pieces of each design in the collection was produced!
