Being pregnant for 9 long months means you’re very likely to come across an occasion or celebration where you’ll have to pass up an alcoholic drink for something soft.
I was still in my first trimester during Christmas/New Years and due to morning sickness I didn’t really feel I missed out too much as all I could really stomach was water anyway! However on a balmy summers day like today (hello 24 degrees!) there is nothing I would like more than to sit in the garden with a cold gin or a glass of fizz.
Alas I’ll have to wait a few more weeks for that so I’ve been indulging in some delicious soft drinks….in particular homemade lemonade! I’ve shared my favourite recipe below (taken from the BBC Food website) which is super easy to make and so delicious.
4 medium sized lemons
100g caster sugar
1 litre cold water
Extras to garnish
1) Add the juice of the lemons to a small pan along with the sugar and stir over a low heat until all the sugar has dissolved.
2) Once the sugar has dissolved take off the heat and leave to cool for a few minutes.
3) Add some ice cubes to a large jug then pour over your lemon/sugar liquid and top with water.
4) Serve in your favourite glass and decorate with some lemon slices and fresh mint leaves.
